DB Smile – Our Chatbot
DB Smile – our friendly dialog partner
DB Smile is our chatbot that is used in direct interaction with the user. As a digital dialog partner, it answers questions about the Deutsche Bahn and thus forms an interface between human and brand. With the pulse as a smile, it picks up on our central brand element and radiates sympathy and closeness.
Structure
DB Smile is built from a speech bubble with shadow and an optional additional icon. Its construction is based on the design language of our icons. The speech bubble without and with different additional icons are available for download.
The speech bubble
The speech bubble, as a symbol for dialogue, becomes a sympathetic dialog partner through the combination with our pulse as a mouth.

Human Resources
If required, an additional icon can be added to the speech bubble to represent a specific service or topic of the Deutsche Bahn. The desired additional icon is taken from our functional-icon-package and always used in black. This creates a series of individualized avatars, which nevertheless have a clear affiliation through the brand-typical red speech bubble.
Areas of application
Mainly DB Smile is used in chats or in the VUI (Voice User Interface). Here it represents an interface between user and brand and answers questions on a textual level.
The speech bubble
The speech bubble with additional icon should only be used in larger applications. In small applications, such as a chat profile picture, the chatbot otherwise appears too small. Here, the speech bubble without icon ensures better recognizability. If you use the chatbot in applications, you should make sure that it is placed on the basis of its optical center. In addition, it should always keep a sufficient distance to surrounding content and be placed on calm backgrounds.

The construction of DB Smile is based on the construction of our icons and follows the same rules.
Footprint of the speech bubble

The speech bubble, as well as the additional icon, uses a footprint of 32 x 32 grid units and a stroke width of 2 grid units. The speech bubble has a shadow that is located 3 units below and outside of its actual grid.
For the speech bubble with additional icon, a grid of 48 x 48 units is used, in which both the footprint of the speech bubble and that of the additional icon are placed. The base area of the additional icon is scaled to 2/3 of ist original size. It should always be in the upper right corner, but can be moved slightly horizontally and vertically as long as the clear space (in light blue) of the 48 x 48 grid is respected. The position of the speech bubble must not be changed.

Appearing of the additional icon
DB Smile is primarily designed for static applications. However, individual prefabricated animations, as well as the "startup and shutdown" or the "appearing of the additional icon" can be used animated, as long as the technical possibilities allow it.
